Day One: Day of Reckoning

Today is the first day of the rest of my life. After spending the last two days crying non-stop, applying more mascara, and then crying some more, I feel like I've got a grip. I've stared down the temptation to buy a car on payments, and have promptly turned in the other direction to start my adventure of continuing my life without reliable transportation. How did I reach this decision you ask? Well I called up my old high school economics teacher of course and asked him to tell me what to do. No matter that I'm a 23 year old (almost 24), grown woman. This girl knows enough of hopeless situations to know when she's tanked.

So here is the plan. In six months I plan to:

1. Keep my house and two current jobs
2. Pay off $1400 worth of debt
3. Save up around $1000 in savings
4. Save around $2000 for a car, paid in full in cash
5. Keep a social life
6. Take full advantage of my bike, bus system, taxis and the generosity of my sister, dad and my economics teacher himself (!) in the occasional use of their cars
7. Learn my lesson once and for all
8. Give away 10% to Jesus or more
9. Try and be joyful through it all

Do you think I can do it? Well watch and see. Maybe you're in the same boat and you can learn something or maybe you're in the same boat and you'll decide that this plan is the definition of awful. All the same, it might keep me sane to try and document my efforts.
